Ebadot Hossain 'surprised' after receiving ODI call

Recommended Posts

Bangladesh pacer Ebadot Hossain admitted that he was 'surprised' to get a call-up to the ODI squad but added that he is looking forward to grab the opportunity against Afghanistan during the upcoming three-match ODI series, scheduled to start from February 23 at Chattogram.

Ebadot, who is tagged as a Test specialist, was one of the four uncapped players picked in the squad for the Afghanistan series. The selectors have opted for Ebadot as Taskin Ahmed's backup considering he just completed his rehabilitation for the back injury that ruled him out of the just concluded Bangladesh Premier League.

Ebadot had picked up six wickets in five games in that competition at an economy rate of 7.61. "To be honest I was surprised to get a call in the ODIs," Ebadot said. "I will try to do well if I get a chance. I have played around 11 List A matches so I know what needs to be done.

"I was confident from the New Zealand series and carried that confidence in BPL as well and now looking forward to carry it in the series against Afghanistan. In Tests I have to bowl in the same area whereas here it is quite different and now my major focus is to adapt to it (white-ball format) as quickly as possible. But I need to use the new ball well."

Both the teams have reached Chattogram to prepare for the series although they decided not to train on Sunday.
